Help Your Students Identify Emotions with These Simple Tools!

Hey Teacher Friends,

Understanding and identifying emotions is one of the most important social skills students need to learn. For many students, especially those with Autism or ADHD, recognizing emotions in themselves and others can be challenging.

This week, I’m sharing some easy-to-use tools and strategies to help your students recognize and name emotions.

Here are a few tips to get started:

Emotion Cards & Visuals: Use emotion cards with faces showing different emotions like happy, sad, angry, or excited. This provides a clear visual representation, making it easier for students to identify how they or others are feeling.
Daily Check-Ins: Start your day with an emotion check-in. Students can choose an emotion card that matches how they feel. This helps build emotional awareness and sets the tone for open communication.
Mirror Games: Have students look in the mirror and try to imitate facial expressions for different emotions. This can be a fun and interactive way to help them understand how emotions look on themselves and others.
